Wuling launches cheap Bingo S city hatch in China

The SAIC-GM-Wuling joint enterprise has started selling its Wuling Binguo S (simplified as Bingo S) on the domestic market. The subcompact is available in four trims with two batteries to choose from, and costs 66,800–79,800 CNY.

To put things into perspective, a very similar car – the Geely Xingyuan – went on sale in early 2025 priced at 68,800–97,800 CNY and proceeded to become the best-selling vehicle in the segment. Barring unexpected issues, one may expect similar performance from the Bingo S.

The model S is actually a third entry in the brand’s Bingo lineup, which also includes the regular city car known simply as the Wuling Bingo and the crossover called Bingo Plus. The “normal” Bingo is the smallest of the three at 3,950 mm (154.3 in), the Plus version is around 4,000 mm (156.2 in) long.

The new Bingo S is the biggest of the trio with 4,265 mm (166.6 inches) of body length. It is also 1,785 mm (69.7 in) wide and 1,600 mm (62.5 in) tall, so it has enough room inside for five people. Or you can fold the rear seats and get whopping 1,450 liters (51.2 cubic feet) of luggage space.

A single electric motor drives the front wheels with 102 PS (101 hp / 76 kW) and 180 Nm (133 lb-ft) of torque. Batteries comes in two sizes – 31.9 and 41.9 kilowatt-hours. The former is good for 325 km (202 miles) of CLTC range and the latter for 430 km (267 miles). The main competitor – the Geely Xingyuan mentioned above – has 310 and 410 km options, so the two are rather closely matched.

Even at its most basic trim level, the Wuling Bingo S packs an 8.88-inch digital dashboard, an infotainment system with a 12.8-inch display and support for various phones, a 50-watt wireless charger, and cup holders. The company also points out 25 storage niches and pockets all around the cabin.
