Yamaha unveils a hydrogen golf car

Yamaha claims that the Drive H2 is the world’s first hydrogen-powered golf car. It shares most of the parts with the mass-produced Drive2 Consierge4 and is just a concept at this point.

The company admits that its principal goal here is to demonstrate the evolutionary prospects of ICE engines as the world keeps moving towards complete electrification. Another goal is to prove that subcompact vehicles can also run on hydrogen fuel. The golf car pictured here has two 25-liter hydrogen gas tanks installed: one under the driver’s seat and the other one behind the rear bench seat.

No further specifics have been announced so far, and it is unclear whether the Drive2 may ever make it into actual production. The original Yamaha Drive2 Consierge4 is currently available in the United States, where you can get it with either a 7-hp (5kW) electric motor or a 357-cm3 (0.357-liter) petrol engine.
