All-electric Byton SUV goes into production with the 49-inch dashboard still there

A production-ready version of the Chinese-designed Byton SUV will debut at the impending CES show in Las-Vegas. Unless the latest teaser is deliberately misleading, the car gets to keep its enormous 49-inch / 125 cm long digital dashboard that we thought would only be present in its concept version.

Compared to the prototype unveiled a year ago, the mass-issue Byton M-Byte SUV gets a curvier instrument panel alongside an additional 8-inch display located on the steering wheel.

According to some rumors, the base model will ship with 272 hp (203 kW) at its disposal. Reportedly, it will also get a 71 kWh battery for around 400 kilometers (250 miles) of driving range. The hi-end trim should get two engines with 476 hp (355 kW) total output and a 95 kWh battery rated for 500 km / 310 mi of uninterrupted driving.

The Byton M-Byte will enter production in the city of Nanking, China. It will hit the market in 2020 priced at around U.S. $45,000.
