Acura has unveiled the ARX-06, its latest endurance racer making its live debut at the Monterey Car Week tomorrow.
Powering the track-only hypercar is a 2.4-liter V6 engine rated at 680 PS (671 hp / 500 kW). The mill revs up to 10,000 RPM and takes advantage of a specially constructed combustion chamber that makes it compatible with low-carbon fuels.
A motor-generator assists the main engine drawing power from a small battery pack on board. Acura says it has yet to finalize the software governing the hybrid system to ensure smooth synchronization between the engine and the motor.
Other notable features of the ARX-06 include carbon-fiber monocoque construction, a large air splitter with an active part, prominent fenders, air intakes and a large rear wing. The side mirrors sit behind the fenders for optimum visibility and aerodynamic performance.
