Totem Automobili turning a rare Alfa Romeo into a 525-HP carbon supercar

Italy-based auto restoration and repair shop Totem Automobili specializes in classical Alfa Romeo cars. Their latest project is called ‘Giulia GTA’, and it brings along custom carbon-fiber bodywork mounted on a 90% new aluminum chassis.

The donor vehicle here is an ultra-rare Alfa Romeo GT Junior 1300/1600, which rolled off the assembly line nearly half a century ago. The tuner only keeps about 10% of the original chassis intact, replacing the entire suspension and subframe with modern machined-aluminum parts. In turn, the new body is made of prepreg carbon fiber.

The one-off supercar comes powered by a single high-end electric motor rated at 525 hp (391 kW) and 938 Nm (692 lb-ft) of torque. It should accelerate 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.4 seconds, although the real testing has not begun just yet. Its traction battery weighs in at 350 kilos (770 lbs) and stores up to 50.4 kilowatt-hours of power, granting it around 320 km (200 miles) of range.

Further highlights deserving mention include Brembo brakes, Airrex suspension, forged wheels reminiscent of those the classical Giulia GTAm shipped with, and a couple small 3.5-inch screens coming to replace the analog dash instruments.
