Car classics like the Alfa Romeo Spider Duetto are usually appreciated for their retro charms and kept as is, but Garage Italia resolved to cut one up for this year’s Milan Design Week.
The team procured a model year 1992 Spider Duetto and left no stone unturned converting it into a modern mild hybrid sports car. The main highlight of the powertrain is its support for KERS, a technology popularized by Formula One that allows the car to recuperate energy while braking and reuse it later when rapid acceleration is needed.
We were unable to find any info about the main gasoline engine, though. The original Duetto packed a two-liter four-cylinder engine good for 126 PS (124 hp / 93 kW).
The show car had its exterior and cabin made over with light composite materials and components produced using state-of-the-art methods. Its body was given a turquoise paint (GIC Miramare), while the interior received a pair of bright orange seats and matching veneer applications. A custom ten-channel audio system by Sonus Faber rounded things off here.
