Bovensiepen Zagato gets a production quantity and a price

After Alpina’s merger with BMW, brothers Andreas and Florian Bovensiepen have teamed up to continue their tuning brand’s work independently from the Bavarian automaker. Their first production car, the Bovensiepen Zagato, is a BMW 4-Series with a luxury supercar twist and a price tag to match.

As one can guess by the name, famous Italian coachbuilder Zagato took part in designing the exterior of the coupe. It ended up with a body reminiscent of the now-discontinued BMW i8, although spruced up with Zagato’s signature “double bubble” roof.

Interestingly, the company claims it had to fabricate more than 400 custom carbon-fiber components for the project. Unless we misremember, Alpina never went this far to customize the looks of any of its bespoke rides.

For the interior, Bovensiepen claims it will implement virtually any trim scheme based on the client’s preferred materials and finishes. The layout stays stock, but equipment upgrades aren’t out of the question.

Last but not least, the 4-Series’ standard inline-six engine gets a boost from its 530 PS (523 hp /390 kW) to a more respectable 611 PS (603 hp / 450 kW). The eight-speed automatic transmission gets hit with 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque instead of 650 Nm (479 lb-ft). As a result, the coupe sprints 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.3 seconds.

Only 99 such cars will be delivered, each priced from a cool €369,495 in Germany.
