BMW M Competition to become the new M standard

The BMW M division plans to pull out the low-end sports car segment and focus on Competition and higher versions, Carscoops reports quoting CEO Franciscus van Meel.

In addition to ‘hot’ M vehicles, the BMW has ‘lukewarm’ cars on its current lineup, like the M440i. They are arguably already enough to fill the gap between standard models and full-on sports cars. The M division says that removing the standard M models from the market and focusing on the Competition lineup as the new standard makes perfect sense. BMW will continue churning out ‘halfway warm’ Mxxx modifications for those in the market for an entry-level sports car.

The new M lineup will include the latest M3 Competition (shown here), the M3 CS, the M4 CSL, and a number of Neue Klasse EVs when they come out.
