BMW’s hybrid flagship gets G-Power treatment for 1,000 PS

The German tuning company has launched a tuning package called GP-1000 for the BMW XM (see video). As its name suggests, it boosts the output of the powertrain to 1,000 metric horsepower (986 hp / 735 kW). Prices start from €28,322 in Europe, which converts into $33,371 for the United States.

The description doesn’t go into full detail, but it’s worth noting that a stock XM is only good for 653 PS (644 hp / 480 kW) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft). Opting for the pricier Label spec (formerly known as the Red Label) gets you up to 748 PS (738 hp / 550 kW) and 1,000 Nm (738 lb-ft) of torque. That’s still at least 252 horses away from what G-Power offers with its tune-up program.

If any of the numbers strike you as excessive, the tuner has a tamer option in store for €17,017. It still yields an impressive 900 PS (888 hp / 662 kW) along with 1,150 Nm (848 lb-ft). Finally, you can get a solid 850 PS (838 hp / 625 kW) with 1,100 Nm (811 lb-ft) of torque for just €9,282.

G-Power hasn’t disclosed any sprint times yet. CarBuzz claims that the stock BMW XM is largely on par with the gas-powered X5 M in terms of acceleration, despite the price difference. In the States, buying the latest XM Label is a matter of at least $159,600, while an X5 M can be had from $131,000 or so.
