Chery is preparing a large-scale refresh for the Tiggo 8 in China. The SUV will become larger and take on a more modern look when it debuts on official terms at the end of the year, CarNewsChina reports.
In the meantime, we have these semi-official shots. As you can see, the overall shape and proportions stay the same but many smaller details are new. For one thing, it looks like the new Tiggo 8 will be offered with two front fascia designs to choose from, each having its own radiator grille and headlights. One has Chery’s traditional lights and a slightly rounded, but boxy-looking grille. The other one sports stacked lights and a well-rounded grille with a different pattern. The bumpers also look affected by the headlight shape, and there is a new LED brake light strip at the back. Last but not least, the tailgate now bears “CHERY” lettering.
According to CarNewsChina quoting certification data, the facelifted Tiggo 8 is 4,749 mm (185.5 in) long, 1,880 mm (73.4 in) wide and 1,710 mm (66.8 in) tall with a wheelbase of 2,825 mm (110.4 in). That’s 115 mm (4.5 in) more wheelbase than the current model, and the body sounds wider and longer than before. Whether there will be any powertrain changes remains to be revealed.
