This not-so-thrifty Thriftmaster restomod will set you back $225k

The Chevrolet Thriftmaster is a timeless American classic with an iconic exterior and decent reliability, even if it was designed as a workhorse. Well, Icon 4x4 reasoned it could pull off a restomod version of it that people would pay $225,000 for – here’s the result.

Modifications begin with a seriously upgraded chassis, per-wheel suspension and Brembo brakes at all four corners, a rear sway bar, and rack-and-pinion steering for a more modern feel behind the wheel. 18-inch forged wheels come shod in Michelin Pilot Sport tires, and the suspension is slammed so low as to exclude any implication of off-road utility.

As most projects of this type, this one relies on a General Motors-sourced LS3 V8 for propulsion. The 6.2-liter naturally aspirated block pumps out its usual 440 PS (434 hp / 324 kW) and doesn’t reveal itself when parked. Still, we’d imagine such a well-preserved Thriftmaster with flawless paint and chrome is bound to attract attention, and there’s an Icon 4x4 badge on one of the fenders for those curious.

The interior manages to capture the 1950s-era charms beautifully with retro-style upholstery, hand-woven woolen mats on the floor and rich dark brown Alcantara on the ceiling. There is a modern audio system with multiple speakers and Bluetooth support on board, but actually noticing it is challenging.

Oh, and in case you were wondering how popular these pricey trucks were, this one is the 30th Thriftmaster by Icon so far. Orders are still being processed, to see if you happen to have a spare $225,000 lying around if at all interested.
