Chevy C5 Corvette backdated by 4 generations goes on sale for $92k

A vivid red Chevrolet Corvette looking like it arrived in a time machine from 1953 has gone on sale in the USA this week. The car is actually only 19 years old, extensively modified by Classic Reflection Coachworks (CRC) to look older than it is.

The tuner came up with custom carbon-fiber bodywork for the project and, importantly enough, did not go overboard with keeping the exterior ‘clean’. There are still quite a few fine details that otherwise get removed in such projects, and the bumpers shine with fresh chrome. The result is a period-correct C1 ‘Vette lookalike that even an experienced viewer would not immediately recognize for what it is.

The illusion does vanish in the interior, which largely remains stock, and the same applies to the engine bay. The 5.7-liter LS1 V8 still drives the rear wheels with its usual 350 PS (345 hp / 257 kW) and 488 Nm (360 lb-ft) of torque through a four-speed automatic transmission.

The bidding had reached U.S. $92,000 before the owner on Bring-a-Trailer pulled back.
