Citroen has been offering its all-electric C4 in hatchback and sedan flavors, but with no battery sizes to choose from. This has changed today with the introduction of a new, more efficient powertrain.
The older e-C4 models rely on a Continental motor for propulsion, getting 136 PS (134 hp / 100 kW) out of it. The new synchronous motor comes from a different vendor, named Emotors, and outputs superior 156 PS (154 hp / 115 kW) and 260 Nm (192 lb-ft) of torque. Despite being much more powerful, it is said to consume less battery power.
Furthermore, the battery size has grown from 50 to 54 kilowatt-hours in the new version. As a result, it comes rated at 420 km (261 miles) of WLTC range, up from just 360 km (223 miles).
Customers may still opt for the older, cheaper Citroen e-C4 because it remains in production, but the premium for the new version is as little as €1,000.
