ABT Sportsline cranks the power up on the Cupra Leon

The German tuning company continues expanding its offer for Cupra vehicles. After having their way with the Formentor SUV, ABT Sportsline has now switched attention to the Leon hatchback and family wagon.

Only those who opted for the 2.0 TSI variant of the Leon will be able to enjoy this upgrade, although the 1.4-liter mild hybrid might get its share of tuning later on. Once installed, the new engine software ramps up the output to 360 PS (355 hp / 255 kW) for the Hatchback and to 370 PS (365 hp / 272 kW) for the Sportstourer. The peak torque simultaneously increases to 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) in both cases.

In other words, both body styles gain around 50 horsepower and 50 Newton-meters of torque from the upgrade, making the Cupra Leon a more powerful alternative to the VW Golf R. Having said that, the actual sprint times haven’t been measured. The front-wheel-drive Leon Hatchback needs 5.7 seconds for a launch to 100 km/h (62 mph), while the AWD wagon performs the same exercise in just 4.7 seconds.
