Chinese FAW Group took its facelifted Bestune T77 crossover out for some road tests, as evidenced by these spy photos. The model is expected to become a mild hybrid driven by an eight-speed automatic transmission, and it might go on sale marketed as a next-gen car.
Based on the images, the exterior of the SUV gains certain modern FAW styling cues that were absent in the old version (watch the video if you would like to compare). These include a large radiator grille, LED headlights, reshaped taillights, and an updated exterior with more glass than before.
We are told that the new T77 is more than 4.7 meters long and around 180 mm longer than the old one, and has 2,745 mm between the axles (+45 mm).
In all likelihood, the base version of the SUV will use a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder rated at 224 PS (221 hp / 165 kW), mated to a 48V starter-generator. The electric add-on will slightly improve fuel economy while assisting the car during initial acceleration and in other situations when extra thrust is required.
For the first time on record for Bestune, the new T77 will take advantage of an Aisin eight-speed automatic transmission designed in Japan.
The debut is expected at the China Auto Expo in Beijing next month, with sales set to follow later this year.
