Abarth F595 breaks cover with specs and details

Abarth is not that prolific of a car manufacturer, but it has been very active recently, having unveiled the 695 Esseesse a couple of weeks ago and the new F595 now.

The car comes based on the same old-gen Fiat 500 as its predecessor, specifically the 595 Turismo spec. It is dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Formula Italia racecar built by Carlo Abarth. The original Formula raver gave a start to the Formula 4 championship in Italy, where most of the contenders use the turbocharged Fiat 1.4 T-Jet engine.

The F595 is no exception: it uses the same engine model to get 165 PS (163 hp / 121 kW) and 230 Nm (162 lb-ft) of torque. A five-speed manual transmission enables it to reach 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds, while a DCT is one-tenth of a second slower than that.

One of the key features of the Abarth F595 comes in the form of a Record Monza Sovrapposto exhaust system featuring quad stacked tailpipes. There is an active valve that changes the exhaust tune as soon as you push a button with a scorpion image on it.

Elsewhere, the throttle response has been improved and the power steering reworked for efficiency. 17-inch aftermarket wheels filled out the arches, and blue accents were added to the body here and there.

The tuned Fiat 500 is available in hatchback and convertible body styles.
