862 PS and 0-60 in 3.2 seconds: Hennessey dials up the heat on Ford Mustang

The heavily track-focused Ford Mustang GTD is the Blue Oval’s most powerful mass-produced Mustang ever, but Hennessey Performance felt like it could use an aftermarket rival – one with even more thrust under the hood, even at the expense of cornering performance.

It is now obtainable as a part of the Texan tuner’s Super Venom series. The company takes a 2026MY Ford Mustang and retrofits it with a high-end supercharger, squeezing 862 PS (850 hp / 634 kW) out of the V8. For comparison, the GTD maxes out at 826 PS (815 hp / 607 kW). The torque likewise goes up, peaking at 881 Nm (650 lb-ft).

Tuned like this, the ‘Stang can hit 96.6 km/h (60 mph) from standstill in 3.2 seconds. It also completes a quarter-mile run in 10.9 seconds, exiting it at 214 km/h (133 mph). Perhaps best of all, the car stays street-legal in the United States while retaining the OEM warranty and getting Hennessey’s own warranty on top of that.

Obtaining a Super Venom like this is a matter of U.S. $149,950. However, the vehicle pictured here is an anniversary edition dedicated to the tuner’s 35th birthday. It is coming to the market in a tiny batch of 35 units with only special badges and decals to distinguish it from the regular Super Venom. We haven’t seen any prices mentioned, but you’ll probably have to cough up considerably more than the base car’s already impressive $150k.
