Genesis has posted a photo of the first car from its impending Magma lineup. The all-electric performance SUV has completed its road tests and is now heading for a debut in late 2025.
The premium automaker claims it had tested the GV60 all around the world – in the freezing northern climate of Arjeplog, Sweden, in the Californian heat, on the treacherous winding mountain roads of Spain and finally in the Hyundai Namyang Research Center in South Korea and the local racetracks.
Based on the images, the sporty EV differs from its mass-produced counterpart thanks to larger wheels, a distinct front bumper and a bulky rear spoiler. All in all, it resembles the concept from the last spring, as far as the wrap allows us to judge.
All technical details remain to be disclosed, but most observers expect the GV60 to share the powertrain with the Ioniq 5 N and the Kia EV6 GT. As such, it may debut with dual motors rated at 650 PS (641 hp / 478 kW) and an 84-kWh battery pack.
Moving forward, Genesis plans to create a whole performance car sub-brand out of its Magma lineup. Every current Genesis model is expected to receive a high-end Magma version sooner or later. These cars will mostly be designed by the marque’s European HQ and marketed as a more luxurious, comfortable and efficient means of transportation compared to their mainline Hyundai and Kia counterparts.
The last bit is important because Genesis makes no claim that the Magma lineup is track-focused.
