The GMC Jimmy lives again on Sierra underpinnings

Back in 1970, General Motors decided to capitalize on the popularity of the Chevrolet C/K by releasing a successor model of sorts, named the Jimmy. It went out of production two decades ago, but Flat Out Autos decided to bring it back at least in form.

The result is in our gallery here. The tuner took a GMC Sierra pickup and shortened its wheelbase considerably, ending up with completely new proportions. Looking from the front end, you may be misled into thinking nothing has changed, but a side view immediately exposes the shorter wheelbase, cab and bed. The latter was redone from scratch and outfitted with a pair of mini-seats.

Things were allowed to stay stock under the hood. Flat Out Autos believes a Jimmy like this would be of interest to all compact car enthusiasts who especially appreciate the ability to park anywhere. A Plexiglas top for the bed and a full interior makeover are currently being designed.

The result will be exhibited for everyone to see at the SEMA show in Las Vegas in November, and the package will go on sale soon afterwards.
