The Chinese branch of Honda has expanded the local Integra lineup, adding a new hatchback option to the previously available sedan. Both are now obtainable with a hybrid drivetrain.
Like the four-door Integra, the hatchback is little more than a rebadged Honda Civic in terms of body and tech. The panels are all the same, but the radiator grille, both bumpers, the headlights and the wheels are new.
The turbocharged four-pot rated at 182 PS (180 hp / 134 kW) and 240 Nm (177 lb-ft) of torque is now available for both the sedan and the hatchback variants. Buyers get to choose between six-speed manual and CVT for the transmission. Another option is a range-extender hybrid system not unlike that used in the Civic e:HEV for Europe. In most cases, the propulsion is handled by an electric motor producing 184 PS (181 hp / 135 kW) and 315 Nm (232 lb-ft) of torque, with a 2.0-liter combustion engine generating more electricity. However, when rapid acceleration is required, the engine may briefly disengage from its generator duty and assist the motor.
The Integra hatchback will go on sale in China later this month.
