The Hongqi S9 is a 1,400-HP, China-made hybrid hypercar

Luxury automaker Hongqi has come to the Auto China 2020 with what is probably that country’s fastest and most expensive production vehicle in history. Called the S9, the two-seater debuted as a prototype at the Frankfurt show last fall.

On the outside, there are many rather unique styling features such as the complex front clip, the fenders, the large rear wing and the bulky rear diffuser with exhaust finishers in the middle.

Powering the hypercar is a 1,400-hp (1,044-kW) hybrid powertrain revolving around a 4.0-liter gasoline V8. It is said to be capable of accelerating 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 1.9 seconds (around 0.6s faster than the Bugatti Chiron) and ultimately hitting 400 km/h (248.5 mph).

A total of 70 such cars are in the production plan. Prices start from 10 million Chinese Yuan, or nearly 1.5 million USD.
