Hyundai Custo revealed in full ahead of China premiere

Hyundai has disclosed the main parameters of its upcoming Custo minivan for China.

The MPV resembles other Hyundai models on the outside: note the Tucson-like radiator grille and headlights. The front bumper is bulkier than that of the Tucson, however, there is a LED strip connecting the taillights, the sides sport sharp-looking edges, and the side sills are rather unconventional.

At 4.95 meters long with 3.06 meters between the axles, the Custo falls behind the Kia Carnival and the Hyundai Staria (see video) in terms of length: both rivals are longer than five meters from head to tail. A three-row, seven-seat modification will be the first to arrive, followed by an upmarket version with two individual seats in the second row. The rear side doors slide to open at both sides.

Found inside is a four-spoke steering wheel, a digital dashboard, a portrait-oriented multimedia display (size unannounced), a smoothly curved front panel, and a tall center tunnel with transmission-controlling buttons.

The China version of the MPV is expected with two engines: a 1.5-liter one with 170 PS (168 hp / 125 kW) and a 2.0-liter one good for 236 PS (233 hp / 174 kW). An eight-speed automatic transmission carries the momentum to the front wheels, and front wheels only.
