An all-electric SUV going up against an Italian supercar on a quarter-mile strip – can you predict the outcome? It certainly surprised us.
Starting with the EV, it is a dual-motor Hyundai Ioniq 5 N packing 650 PS (641 hp / 478 kW) and 770 Nm (568 lb-ft) of torque. The car lends itself fairly well to racing thanks to a large number of adaptive electronic systems.
Its rival for the race is none other than the formidable Lamborghini Aventador SV, which extracts 750 PS (740 hp / 552 kW) and 690 Nm (509 lb-ft) of torque out of its 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12.
Both contenders have four driven wheels, but the Aventador takes the upper hand in both power and weight, tipping the scales at 1,625 kilos (3,583 pounds) versus the Hyundai’s 2,235 kg (4,927 lbs).
