IM L6 electric sedan leaks specs ahead of May premiere

The Chinese Ministry of Industry and IT has posted the main specifications of the IM Motors L6 electric sedan that debuted at the Geneva Motor Show several days ago. According to Car News China, it is scheduled to go on sale in May this year in RWD and AWD variants with two battery sizes to choose from. Europe and South America will get it in 2025.

The IM L6 is 4,931 mm (192.6 inches) long, 1,960 mm (76.6 in) wide and 1,474 mm (57.6 in) tall with 2,950 mm (115.3 in) of wheelbase. In its standard RWD spec, the car has a single 340-PS (335-hp / 250-kW) motor on the rear axle. Its curb weight is rather moderate for an EV at 2,040 kg (4,500 lbs).

The dual-motor AWD version uses a 272-PS (268-hp / 200-kW) motor at the front and a 515-PS (508-hp / 379-kW) one at the rear. It tips the scales at 2,250 kg (4,960 lbs).

For starters, IM Motors will be shipping the L6 with two CATL battery packs to decide between. The smaller 90-kWh pack will yield up to 720 km (447 miles) of range for the RWD version and up to 700 km (435 miles) for the AWD version. The larger 100-kWh pack will extend these ranges to 770 and 750 km, respectively (478 and 466 miles).

Back at the Geneva show, the carmaker mentioned that the L6 would eventually become available with an innovative solid-state battery that would let it cover 1,000 km (621 mi) per charge according to the CLTC standard or more than 800 km (500 mi) according to the strict European WLTP. The company representative avoided giving any specific dates, though.

Like the IM LS6 SUV that the L6 sedan is based on, it has a yoke-shaped steering wheel in the cabin, a giant display spanning nearly the entire dashboard width, and a separate screen on the center console. A LiDAR on the roof lets the car offer Level 3 semi-autonomous driving features, and four-wheel steering is already included as standard.
