Lancia Ypsilon gets a cheaper manual/ICE-only variant

Lancia, a Stellantis Group company, has unveiled a new affordable modification of its five-door hatchback Ypsilon. Originally available only as a hybrid or EV, it’s now finally obtainable in a gas-only form with manual transmission.

The new version is known as the Turbo 100. It features a turbocharged 1.2-liter, three-cylinder engine rated at 101 PS (100 hp / 75 kW) and 205 Nm (151 lb-ft) of torque. A six-speed manual gearbox routes the momentum to the front wheels, taking the hatchback from standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 10.2 seconds.

The exterior stays mostly the same, while the interior loses its signature “bar table” in favor of a more traditionally styled transmission tunnel. That’s just fine by us, although it’s a bit of a pity to see one of the original car’s most unique features ditched like that. It still feels like a modern ride with two 10.25-inch touchscreens on the dash and things like HVAC, LED headlights, rear parking sensor and ADAS features listed under trim options.

Prices in Italy start from a relatively low €22,200. A part-electric Ypsilon Ibrida will set you back €3,000 more in the same country.
