The long-wheelbase Range Rover Evoque L has debuted in Chongqing, China, with sales slated for next month and the normal-length Evoque on its way out.
At 4,531 mm long with 2,841 mm between the axles, the L version is 160 mm longer than normal. The wheelbase is also 100 mm longer than that of the Land Rover Discovery Sport, which is based on the same mechanical platform. The roof angle has been altered slightly, but you might need to look twice to spot the difference.
Rear doorframes are now wider than before, and the spacing between the front seats and the second row is more liberal. There is now a shelf between the front seat backs that you can put your laptop or phone on. Rear seat backs are power-adjustable.
Pop open the hood, and you will see a 2.0-liter turbo four-pot linked to an electric starter-generator, a nine-speed auto transmission and an all-wheel drive system. The total output amounts to 249 PS (246 hp / 183 kW).
Sales will begin next month. At $61,000 USD, the new SUV comes in at $2,300 above its standard-length counterpart.
Watch the video if you would like a reminder on what the China-spec Evoque (not L) looks like.
