Chinese EV maker Leapmotor has supplied new info regarding the C10, its upcoming crossover SUV set to be released both in and outside of China, including Europe, Asia and Middle East markets. Its range doesn’t exceed 530 km (330 miles), CarNewsChina reports.
The Leapmotor C10 debuted at the IAA Mobility show in Munich, Germany this fall. It also made it to the Guangzhou Motor Show, but had its windows blacked out and its interior invisible. The newly submitted certification data reveal that it uses a LiFePo4 battery pack rated at 69.9 kWh and weighing 550 kilos (1,212 pounds). The pack supplies power to a single electric motor mounted on the rear axle and driving it with 231 PS (228 hp / 170 kW).
The car runs on a chassis known as the LPEE 3.0, which has ben purpose-designed for electric vehicles of all sizes and shapes. A single supercomputer on board governs all units and systems for an unprecedentedly high level of component integration, the company claims.
From the physical perspective, the SUV is fairly compact at 4,739 mm (185.1 inches) long, 1,900 mm (74.2 in) wide and 1,680 mm (65.6 in) tall with 2,825 mm (110.4 in) between the axles. It offers five seats, a large touchscreen display and a transmission selector mounted behind a two-spoke steering wheel.
Leapmotor says it hopes to sell 10,000 units of the C10 every year. Prices in China are expected to lie within the range of 150,000–200,000 Yuan. The pre-orders will open on January 10, 2024. The first exports batch will be shipped in the summer next year.
The startup company also plans to introduce and ship four other EVs designed for export markets within the next two years.
