Following the reveal of the facelifted 2021 Lexus IS model, the automaker has launched it in Japan.
Updates are quite serious both outside and inside. The headlights have been redesigned to resemble the more expensive models, and the F Sport trim landed with its own grille and bumper design. It also received 18-inch BBS wheels, but 19-inch ones are available as an option.
Inside, round side air vents come to replace the old rectangular ones, and a 10.3-inch display can replace the old 8-inch one if you choose so. Amazon Alexa, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are all supported.
Powertrain modifications have been kept to a minimum. The platform and engines stay the same, the IS300 still packing a 2.0-liter turbo-four, the IS350 a 3.5-liter non-turbo V6 and the IS300h a hybrid powertrain. RWD modifications make use of an eight-speed automatic transmission, while AWD ones go six-speed auto. The hybrid spec goes CVT.
