Lexus will be unveiling the next-gen GX along with a new large SUV called TX tomorrow, June 8. In the meantime, here’s what the two look like from the front end.
The Lexus GX was shot in motion with water splashes concealing some of the front end, but you can still appreciate just how much it has changed. The whole body looks boxier with new bumpers and lighting all around and a chrome-free radiator grille. On the whole, the car looks like a special version of sorts.
In contrast, the Lexus TX looks almost tame. It sports rounded wheel arch extensions, L-shaped headlights and the company’s signature spindle grille, but the latter has no frame and is instead integrated with the bumper.
On the technical side of things, the odds are good that the new GX runs on the same architecture and engines as the Toyota Land Cruiser 300. As for the TX, it is official that it is based on the same internals as the Toyota Grand Highlander. The exterior looks decidedly different in the teasers, but that’s about it. Rumor has it the TX will ship with three engine options to choose from, including two hybrids.
