This McLaren P1 is set to smash through a price record

Bring a Trailer is selling one out of 375 McLaren P1 cars in existence, and the bidding is already at $1.25 million with more than a week remaining on the clock. Everything suggests that the car is set to beat the current price record of $1.82 million for that auction.

According to Carscoops, things heated up fast with the bidding skyrocketing to $1.1 million within the first six hours from opening. The car being traded has chassis number 348 and only around 490 km (300 miles) on the odo. It is yellow with exposed carbon parts and black Alcantara in the cabin.

McLaren unveiled the coupe a decade ago, putting it on the hybrid supercar pedestal alongside the Ferrari LaFerrari and Porsche 918 Spyder. Its powertrain employs a 3.8-liter turbocharged V8 and an electric motor for 916 PS (903 hp / 674 kW) at the wheels. Sprinting 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) is a matter of 2.8 seconds, and the top speed is close to 350 km/h (217 mph).

The current price for this car – which was one of the last to be made in 2015 – is already greater than when it was new. Only 127 units were made for the United States back in the time, and the papers accompanying this one state that its original buyer paid $1,165,850.
