Meet the Coastrunner, a €36k all-electric beach buggy

Netherlands-based automaker Savage Rivale has unveiled an electric car named the Coastrunner. It is a buggy-shaped four-seater with 200 km (124 miles) of range that will soon go into production.

The beach rider comes based on an aluminum space frame with composite outer bodywork. The roof is fabric, the doors are not in the design, and the windshield is the only piece of glass around the cabin.

The dimensions (L/W/H) are quoted as follows: 3,660 mm x 1,670 mm x 1,477 mm (143 x 65.2 x 57.7 inches, respectively). The wheelbase amounts to 2,513 mm (98.1 inches), the ground clearance to 215 mm (8.4 inches), and the curb weight to just 800 kilograms (1,764 pounds).

Despite its small size, the Coastrunner offers a spacious 250-liter trunk (8.8 cubic feet) and a 60-liter (2.1-cubic-foot) fridge compartment built into the front end. An audio system and sports gear mounts are included in the base spec.

Power comes from a single electric motor mounted on the rear axle, driving it with 68 PS (67 hp / 50 kW) and 200 Nm (148 lb-ft) of torque. The traction battery is rated for 20 kWh of power storage.

Prices will start from €36,000, and Savage Rivale warns that only 13 production slots remain open for the next year.
