Mercedes-AMG GT gains a road-legal racecar version

The new Mercedes-AMG GT 63 Pro 4Matic+ has primarily been developed for the racetrack, but you can drive it on the road no problem.

Touted by Mercedes as the sportiest GT in the family, it wears an extended body kit to maximize downforce. For instance, the redesigned front bumper and the large rear wing seen here are both parts of the standard package.

The front fenders, the differentials and the transfer case feature their own, dedicated heat radiators that help maintain the ideal temperature mode even in challenging driving conditions. Every radiator has an electric pump attached for maximum efficiency. A multitude of air vents and louvers throughout the car serves the same purpose.

Power for the beefiest GT comes from its usual 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8. It pumps out 612 PS (603 hp / 450 kW), surpassing the AMG GT 63 by 27 horsepower (20 kilowatts). The torque is also 50 Nm (37 lb-ft) higher and amounts to 850 Nm (627 lb-ft).
Equipped like this, the 63 Pro 4Matic+ needs 3.2 seconds to reach its first 100 km/h (62 mph), 10.9 seconds to double that acceleration, and doesn’t max out until 317 km/h (197 mph).

Carbon-ceramic brakes with six-piston calipers at the front end come included as standard, and the same goes for lightweight 21-inch forged wheels with a Matte Grey finish. The standard tires are Michelin Pilot Sport 5, but you can pay extra and get Pilot Sport Cup 2R.

Things look just as track-ready in the cabin with AMG Performance seats and a steering wheel wrapped in Nappa leather and microfiber. Rear seats are optional, but available to those who also have daily driving in mind for their track toy.
