Mercedes-Benz CLE AMG gets caught running around in production body

Mercedes is getting ready a new model destined to replace both the C- and the E-Class coupes and convertibles on the market. The so-called CLE will have a soft-top named AMG CLE 63 at the pinnacle of the lineup; check it out being tested on snowy streets.

A cursory glance immediately reveals a cloth top and what looks like a finalized, production-ready body. There is also the signature Panamericana grille, an aggressive front bumper, a widened body and larger brakes all around.

The rear end is disguised more thoroughly – not least due to all the snow clinging to it – but you can at least discern the squarish exhaust finishers  so typical of all 63 AMG models.

We wouldn’t be surprised the CLE flagship to ship with the same hybrid powertrain as the latest AMG C 63. That one is based on a 2.0-liter four-pot and makes a combined 680 PS (671 hp / 500 kW) along with mountain-moving 1,020 Nm (1,006 hp / 750 kW).
