SGS Styling Garage, from Hamburg in Germany, must have had fun turning a Mercedes-Benz 500 SEL into what it claims is the world’s only W126 S-Class pickup truck. It’s up for grabs on eBay right now priced at $39,000 – if you can stomach its mileage of 272,000 km (169,000 miles), that is.
The seller claims that the build wasn’t initiated by a rich customer or anyone like that. SGS built the truck for its own, internal use – as a parts carrier. It wasn’t a fancy job, but it nonetheless required extensive bodywork modification and chassis reinforcement. Considering the sheer scope of permanent mods, it’s a miracle that the result was cleared for public road use in Germany.
After a long life of hauling auto parts and supplies, the S-Class pickup was imported into the United States in 2022. It is now up for grabs there, with its condition largely described as “good” but some important omissions.
What we know is that the W126 still uses its 5.0-liter V8 initially rated at 230 PS (227 hp / 169 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque. An automatic transmission drives the rear wheels through an OEM limited-slip differential.
The listing points out careful and regular maintenance, good paint/trim condition, and post-restoration seats. It omits other details, though, so it probably makes sense to inquire further if you are interested – that mileage is no joke, even for an S-Class.
