Mazda EZ-6 debuts with specs and pricing

The Chinese branch of Mazda has opened its pre-order books for the EZ-6 liftback. Prices range from 160,000 to 200,000 Yuan, which roughly corresponds to U.S. $22,800–$28,500.

The car, which debuted at the Beijing Auto Show earlier this year, is based on the EZ chassis co-designed with Changan. This means that the EZ-6 is closely related to the five-door Deepal SL03 and L07 models, just a bit bigger. It also features a distinct exterior design of its own, with the hybrid and the EV versions having different front ends.

The Mazda EZ-6 comes in at 4,921 mm long, 1,890 mm wide and 1,485 mm tall with 2,895 mm between the axles. It has the Japanese brand’s signature headlights and grille and features a small active spoiler at the back. The interior looks more like that of the Deepal SL03 than the L07. There is a 14.6-inch infotainment display sitting next to a traditional instrument panel, although you can opt for a HUD if you prefer it. The infotainment runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chipset.

Customers can get a leather interior in the base trim version, while the top trim adds Alcantara to the mix. Further options include a 14-channel Sony audio system, 64-color ambient lighting, extra-comfortable “zero G” front seats, a panoramic sunroof, a wireless charger, and adaptive cruise control.

Power for the EV comes from a single RWD motor delivering 258 PS (254 hp / 190 kW). Depending on the battery pack size – 56.1 or 68.8 kWh – the range per charge will amount to roughly 480 or 600 kilometers. That’s 298 and 373 miles, respectively, as long as you keep in mind that the measurement standard is Chinese. Charging from 30 to 80 percent only takes 15 minutes.

The hybrid version utilizes a 95-PS (94-hp / 70-kW) engine to generate power for a 218-PS (215-hp / 160-kW) main motor. You can do up to 130 or 200 km (80 or 124 miles) in all-electric mode depending on your chosen battery size, but filling up the gas tank gets you as far as 1,301 km (808 miles) before another refill becomes necessary.
