Nissan Altima gets updated for the USA

After four years of production, the U.S.-spec Nissan Altima has finally gone through a minor facelift that saw its exterior and equipment change while the engines stayed the same.

Comparing the new version against the pre-facelift car in the video here, it is obvious that it no longer has Nissan’s trademark V-shaped grille insert. The headlights boast revised contents, but the housings are unchanged. The bumper looks more aggressive, and since the trim level pictured here is SR, it also sports a large rear spoiler, original 19-inch wheels and black décor throughout.

The old 7-inch multimedia screen is gone for good: your options are now 8 inches (entry-level) and 12.3 inches (top tier). Wireless connection is supported for Apple CarPlay, but Android Auto users still have to mess around with cables. The dash panel trim has been revised somewhat, but the gauges have stayed analog.

As for the engines, you can still go for the standard 2.5-liter naturally aspirated mill rated at 191 PS (188 hp / 140 kW) with FWD and 186 PS (183 hp / 137 kW) with AWD. An alternative comes in the shape of a 2.0-liter TFSI engine driving the front axle exclusively with 251 PS (248 hp / 185 kW). The transmission is CVT in both cases, with no other options.
