Nissan hires cats to advertise its Kei car Dayz

Nissan has found a rather original means of promoting its Dayz subcompact on the domestic markets, producing cardboard replicas of the vehicles and distributing them among cat cafes throughout Japan to be used as pet houses.

The cutouts miss their roofs and windshields, a deliberate decision to ensure that cats find them comfortable to get in and out. Nissan says the sales will decidedly benefit from the campaign – and we have nothing to counter that statement with.

Co-designed by Nissan and Mitsubishi, the newest iteration of the Dayz ships with a 0.66-liter internal combustion engine assisted by an electric motor for 64 hp (48 kW) total.
