Ora 5 SUV touches down in China with full specs and pricing

Great Wall Group automaker Ora has opened preorders for model number 5, its first crossover utility vehicle. The fairly compact ride comes with five trim levels and two battery sizes to choose from, but only one electric motor. Prices start at 109,800 CNY ($15,450).

Just like all of the company’s previous cars, the Ora 5 takes a charming and somewhat naïve retro approach to exterior styling. At the same time, it does look a bit more modern and less derivative than its predecessors. Sized 4,471 x 1,833 x 1,641 millimeters (174.7 x 71.6 x64.1 inches) large, it has 2,720 mm (106.3 inches) between the axles and rides on 18-inch wheels.

The e-motor churns out 204 PS (201 hp / 150 kW) and 260 Nm (192 lb-ft) of torque, taking the SUV to a top speed of 170 km/h (105 mph). Svolt supplies LFP batteries in two sizes – 45.3 and 58.3 kilowatt-hours. The former is good for 480 km (298 miles) and the latter for 580 km (360 miles), the manufacturer estimates. Both can be recharged from 30 to 80 percent full in 20 minutes.

Equipment-wise, the Ora 5 gets a standard infotainment system running on a third-gen Coffee OS. It uses the 10.25-inch digital dash display and the 15.6-inch central touchscreen to output the image. The base trim includes only six speakers, but you can get nine for a premium. Seats come wrapped in eco-leather and offer power adjustments as standard, but ventilation only gets unlocked from trim level 2 upwards. Only the top trims enjoy a LiDAR-based package of driving assists called the Coffee Pilot Ultra.
