Peugeot previews a possible 208 successor

The Peugeot Polygon Concept is a modest-sized hatchback with a futuristic exterior and what the company bills as “the latest in steer-by-wire technology”. Its production prospects are vague, but there are hints that it could be a design study of the next Peugeot 208. We should learn more during the official reveal event on Wednesday, November 12.

Viewed from the side, the compact hatchback looks almost like a single-space microvan with an oversized windshield, a few spoilers and unusually elongated doors without handles. The front end is well-rounded and presents a compelling visual juxtaposition against a sharp, boxy rear end with its almost square wheel arches. A peek inside reveals four seats styled with a distinct sporty vibe, and the lack of a front grille suggests it’s an EV.

Earlier this fall, Peugeot shared a teaser video where it name-dropped the Polygon for the first time and highlighted its “Hypersquare” steering wheel design. In an attempt to reinvent the wheel, the French automaker made it rectangular with four openings at the corners. Other than creating a nice visual parallel with the wheels, we honestly have no idea how that’s supposed to be a viable steering wheel design; hopefully Peugeot can clear that up on Wednesday.

All technical details are pending. There have been rumors that the next Peugeot 208 will be based on the STLA Small chassis and will reach production in the second half of 2026; this also remains to be confirmed.
