Rumor: Porsche Cayenne Electric does a sub-3-second sprint

The Cayenne Electric Turbo is shaping up to become Porsche’s most powerful production car in existence with over 1,000 horsepower (750 kilowatts) of combined power. Multiple sources are now claiming that they managed to find out its approximate specifications from insiders.

The German automaker’s current flagship – the Taycan Turbo GT – sends 1,033 PS (1,019 hp / 760 kW) to the wheels with an opportunity to raise the output briefly to 1,109 PS (1,094 hp / 816 kW). The sources claim that the Cayenne Turbo EV will have even more at its disposal. As such, it will allegedly be able to sprint from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in less than 3 seconds and proceed to 200 km/h (124 mph) in under 8.

This is partially achieved thanks to new motors. The one at the rear end is now oil-cooled and uses a single-speed reducer to drive the wheels, like the Macan EV. A new 113-kWh battery is distributed along the body, supports charging currents up to 400kW and can go from 10 to 80% in 16 minutes. Regenerative braking is supposedly even more efficient at 600kW.

Semi-active suspension with air cushions and adaptive shocks comes standard, while the top specs get Porsche’s Active Ride hydraulic setup. All dampers have been recalibrated for a smoother ride on dirt roads.

In earlier news, the media learned that the Cayenne Electric would support wireless charging via a special induction pad. Porsche also shared some details regarding its interior, previewing curved displays, the brand’s biggest panoramic roof so far and, unexpectedly, heated door panels.
