World’s fastest Audi TT RS sets a record while piloted by a 78-year-old man

This TT RS has recently managed to bridge the gap between 100 and 200 km/h (62-124 mph) in 3.2 seconds on the Dunsfold runway in Great Britain. Arthur, 78, the happy owner of the car, says it could do even more than that.

The extensively modded vehicle still holds onto its original 2.5-liter turbo five-cylinder, but its output no longer amounts to 400 PS (394 hp / 294 kW). Instead, it makes use of a giant aftermarket turbocharger capable of operating at 60 psi of boost pressure, and pumps out over 1,100 hp (810+kW). The torque is not disclosed, but we’d imagine it to be far, far above the stock 480 Nm (356 lb-ft).

Surprisingly enough, Arthur claims the build is capable of even faster acceleration given a sufficiently powerful turbocharger. According to him, an extra 200 hp (150 kW) or so would enable the TT RS to zap from 100 to 200 km/h in barely above two seconds. No one has done it before, but why not break the mold and go for it, right?
