Citroen Type H motorhome underway to auction

Citroen had produced its Type H family of vans starting straight after the WWII and up until the 1980s. The Type H was highly popular and is believed to have provided the basis for modern-day vans. Precious few have survived to this day, but collectors might be interested in a unique example heading to the auction soon.

The car in question is a one-off Citroen Type H motorhome built in 1953. It needs a complete overhaul, but is otherwise in an acceptable driving condition.

Compared to the original van shown in the video here, the motorhome looks completely different on the outside, and for a good reason. Its creator, Jean Barou, drew inspiration from classical U.S. vans when he designed the cab, the radiator grille, the hubcaps and many other new elements. In fact, the powertrain and chassis are the only original parts of this Type H.

Found inside are beds, a dining area with a table, a stovetop, a fridge, a sink, and a WC.
