Jaguar ex-designer open his own car business

Ian Callum, former Chief Designer at Jaguar, grew tired of his career in the British luxury carmaker and went on to found his own company, which he uninventively called after himself.

The design firm will reportedly conceptualize and produce unique and small-batch cars. Rumor has it Callum will also provide design services in other areas outside of the automotive industry. This wouldn’t be surprising: with a name like this, the firm should have no trouble finding clients anywhere.

Ian Callum co-founded the company with three of his associates formerly employed in Jaguar – specifically, Adam Donfrancesco, David Fairbairn and Tom Bird. Such friends will certainly come in handy in a new business.

The Jaguar F-Type, F-Pace, XJ and I-Pace are just some examples of Ian Callum’s more recent works. His earlier ones include the Aston Martin Vanquish, Vantage and DB9.

The Callum team currently consists 18 people and has a factory in Warrick, England, where they can mold prototypes in designer clay and later on shake motor shows the world over with their latest design.

Callum, who is now 64 years old, did the company a final favor when he left it, saying he would be happy to consult his successor on all relevant business matters.
