Toyota bZ3X sells like hot cakes in China

The GAC-Toyota joint enterprise has launched sales of the bZ3X, the electric SUV it introduced around a year ago. Priced at a low 109,800 CNY before discounts and incentives, it has attracted more than 10,000 confirmed preorders within 60 minutes.

Ordering the bZ3X has been available since late 2024, but it has truly exploded in popularity now that the prices and technical specifications were announced. With as many as seven trims to choose from, there is a version for everyone, Toyota claims.

The most affordable version ships with a single motor rated at 204 PS (201 hp / 150 kW) and a 50-kWh LFP battery pack certified for 430 km (267 miles) of range. If that’s not enough, you can pay a premium for a bigger 58.37-kWh pack and get 520 km (323 miles) instead.

Going for the flagship will net you 224 PS (221 hp / 165 kW) and 67.92 kilowatt-hours of power storage, which means up to 610 km (379 miles) on a charge. The most expensive bZ3X is also the only one to benefit from a wide range of electronic assist features, developed between Toyota and Chinese autonomous vehicle specialist Momenta. It’s the first GAC-Toyota car to feature an actual LiDAR and use a high-end chipset (Nvidia Drive AGX Orin X) for data processing.
