Toyota 86 gets luxury-laden special edition

The Toyota 86 could perhaps claim the pedestal as the single sports car with the most Special Editions released. That said, those are all very similar to each other and only strive to add more sportiness to the mix. The British Green Limited Edition announced today is another story altogether, as it takes a turn in the luxury direction.

The new limited series is based on the GT trim of the 86, which already includes such comfort-oriented features as heated seats, climate control, and much more. The novelty comes in the form of posh combination upholstery (leather/Alcantara) and contrast stitching found on the steering wheel, parking brake and gear selector.

The big exterior highlight is the unique British Racing Green paintjob not available in any other versions of the Toyota 86.

Among other things, the Japanese luxury sports car takes advantage of Brembo performance brakes, improved springs, custom 17-inch wheels and a rear wing.

The series comes powered with a 2.0-liter naturally-aspirated engine rated at 207 hp (154 kW) when linked to a manual gearbox or just 200 hp (149 kW) when paired with an automatic one.

The Toyota 86 GT British Green Limited will only be available on its domestic market in Japan. The company is already processing pre-orders starting at U.S. $29,400.
