Toyota Land Cruiser camper embarks on a journey around the world

We have seen all kinds of camper conversions of the Toyota Land Cruiser, which apparently makes a great platform for comfortable homes on wheels with superb off-road credentials. Tim and Kelsie, a duo of enthusiasts known online as the Dirt Sunrise, have picked one such car to travel the whole world.

German company Maltec did the camping-related conversions. Among other things, it gave the SUV plenty of carbon-fiber bodywork, hot and cold water, a cooking stove, and a large lithium battery powered by a solar panel on the roof.

Unsurprisingly given its characteristics, the inline six-cylinder under the hood was kept as is, along with the AWD system and diff locks. The Land Cruiser even rocks a snorkel for wading deep water.

Watch both videos of an in-depth look at the project.
