Toyota Mirai to debut as a production car in late 2020

Toyota has shared a teaser pic featuring the second generation of its Mirai fuel cell sedan. The car – of which little more than an outline is visible – should come into the spotlight in December.

The Mirai Mk2 Concept premiered at the last year’s Tokyo Auto Salon, demonstrating a completely new design approach, the new TNGA-N architecture and rear-wheel drive layout instead of the FWD used before. In addition to this, it gained a rear sofa for three passengers instead of individual seats for two.

The technical details are still mired in mystery, with the manufacturer only saying that the range will grow 30% thanks to larger hydrogen storage tanks.

The second-gen Toyota Mirai is expected to launch on Japan, North America and Europe markets.
