Wrecked Nissan Z gets resurrected with Aston Martin DNA

An interesting homegrown car build is taking place in Australia. Jordan Harper, from Brisbane, bought a crashed Nissan 370Z for cheap and is gradually turning it into a track tool.

The intermediate result somehow simultaneously resembles the Aston Martin Vantage and the Mazda MX-5 ND. Rather than rely on third-party body shops, Harper has been building it on his own using custom-fitted aftermarket parts. There are front bumper extensions, a ventilated hood, a new air intake in the center and a diffuser with two central tailpipes that’s still a work in progress.

Like any self-respecting Frankenstein monster, this one borrows from some of the best. The carbon-fiber lip spoiler comes from a Mercedes-AMG C63, and the modified rear wing originates from a BMW M3. 18-inch alloy wheels fill out the arches nicely, and while the car started off in a bluish gray with yellow black calipers, it now cuts a much sportier figure in all yellow and black.

Back when it was stock, this 370Z had a 3.7-liter V6 mill with 337 PS (332 hp / 248 kW) and 366 Nm (270 lb-ft) of torque at its disposal. It’s unclear whether any modifications were made in that department, but Harper mentions a nitrous oxide system that he installed for track days.
