It looks like Xiaomi’s YU7 SUV will soon be getting a wallet-friendly new version featuring a smaller battery pack, AutoHome.cn reports quoting new data from China’s Ministry of Industry database.
The company hasn’t properly announced a car like that yet, but a certification entry for it exists in the database. Judging by the included photos and specs, it looks identical to the currently available YU7 Long Range and has the same dimensions. It also comes equipped with the same electric motor sending 320 PS (316 hp / 235 kW) to the rear axle.
However, the new model weighs around 115 kilos (253 lbs) less than the Long Range. AutoHome speculates that this implies a smaller battery pack rated at 75-80 kilowatt-hours at most, as opposed to that model’s 96.2 kWh. The CLTC range should also end up being 20-25% less than the 835 kilometers (518 miles) claimed for the YU7 Long Range.
Xiaomi YU7 prices in China currently begin at 253,500 Yuan ($37,126).
