Audi puts its affordable A3 Cabrio out of production

Speaking in a recent interview, an Audi top manager said the next iteration of the A3 range will be missing the open-top version. This means that the A3 Convertible will be put out of production before the end of the current year.

The new Audi A3 family, now based on the MQB platform, will debut at the IAA Frankfurt 2019 in September. The hatchback will be the first to celebrate its premiere, followed by the sedan/saloon. Later additions to the family will include an Allroad version, a four-door coupe, an e-tron, and an RS.

The decision makes sense when you consider that the A3 Cabriolet has been selling very poorly in the recent years.

In a way, those interested in purchasing an open-top Audi are still spoiled for choice with the TTS, TT and A5 models still on offer and not going anywhere soon.
